We are in the last few weeks of the program. I really enjoyed our class and am fortunate to have had the pleasure of getting to know all of you. Thank you so much for all of your hard work on assignments, vocabulary, literature circle, and in-class studies. This is our final blog post! I would like for you to write about your plans for what is to come after this course finishes. What do you want to do? What do you have to do? Where are you going to go? Anything else you care to share is cool :)

Post #5 - Adapting to Culture?
All of you have been living in Canada for at least 8 weeks now. In this post I would like you share your experience of living in Canada, speaking primarily English, and adapting to the lifestyle of Canadian culture. Compare your life in Canada with your life in your home country. Think about how things are different, or how they are similar. Share as much as you are comfortable sharing.
Try using 5 (or more) words in your post from the vocabulary list from Unit 4.
Thanks!

Listen to the TED talk by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of 'Eat, Pray, Love', and write a response based on your ideas of success and failure. What is your definition of success? Is it happiness? Love? Money? Being able to help others? Pursuing a dream? How do you deal with success and failure?

Hello! We have been looking at expanding and developing our vocabulary. I would like for you to take some time in this post to share information about HOW you expand and increase your vocabulary knowledge. WHAT do you do? How do you remember it?
As well, please include a link to a website that you like to use to increase and improve your vocabulary comprehension. Have you ever heard of the Academic Word List (the AWL)? Check it out! It is very beneficial to know the words in this list because it contains words which appear with high frequency in English-language academic texts. The list was compiled by Averil Coxhead at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. You will need to know this academic vocabulary if you want to study in an English-speaking college or university. In fact, because these words are so common, they are even useful to those who do not plan to go on to post-secondary study in English. These are words that you will frequently see in newspapers, magazines, and novels, and hear on television, movies or in conversation.
Here is a link to the AWL. You are welcome :) enjoy
